Western Community Action coordinates the Marshall Food Shelf. The organization utilizes a “client choice” model, where families can pick out the foods they want from the amount granted, ensuring that families will better utilize what they’ve taken rather than being dictated. Clients fill out minimal paperwork to determine family size, which in turn dictates how much the client is able to choose from. Families tend to come once a month, but there are people who come more during extreme need or crisis.
The food shelf is always looking for volunteers to educate and help direct families through the pantry to help as many clients as possible. For inquiries please contact Margaret Palan.
